Position Overview: Market leader in Technology (development & integration) offers an exciting opportunity for a mid-level to senior-level database developer to join the team.

The candidate will have experience with Microsoft SQL Server and any experience with Oracle DB’s would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will have 5-10+ years’ relevant work experience including any of the following:
- Be familiar with SDLC methodologies like Agile, KANBAN, etc.

- Bespoke solution/component design & development
- Systems maintenance
- A full in-depth practical knowledge of solution development on Microsoft SQL server and its components (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS) or Oracle and its components. (Both would be a plus)
- Whilst database administration skills is a plus, this role is for a developer and not an administrator

Whilst a degree is not a requirement, the following degrees will be advantageous; BEng Industrial & Systems Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering or B.Com Informatics (honors), BSc Computer Science, BSc IT. Microsoft (and/or Oracle) Certifications would be a plus.

Candidates with a diploma AND Microsoft (and/or Oracle) Certifications, will also be considered.
Successful candidates will work as part of a multi-functional SDLC team with minimal supervision but with senior DB developers available.

Specific Role Responsibilities:
You will be required to design, develop, test and implement designs as required. You will also be required to research and implement new technologies and best practices. You need to be a strong team player, and able to take the initiative and function in stressful situations.

Qualifications and Experience:


The candidate will have experience in the following:
1. SDLC methodologies like Agile, KANBAN, etc.,
2. Experience using MSSQL Server and all of its components and/or experience with Oracle DB’s and its components


o Relevant tertiary qualifications a plus
o Certifications in either Microsoft and/or Oracle DB development

Skills and Personal Attributes:


- 5 – 10 years’ experience in solution development with strong credentials with regards to database development
- Be familiar with SDLC methodologies like Agile, KANBAN, etc.
- Bespoke solution/component design & development
- Systems maintenance
- A full in-depth practical knowledge on Microsoft SQL server and its components (SSIS, SSRS,SSAS) and/or Oracle DB and its components.

Personal Attributes:

- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in a team
- Eye for detail and identifying problems
- Able to take the initiative and function in stressful situations

Questions after the interview:

At the end of an interview there is usually an opportunity where you can ask any questions you might have. This is a great opportunity to show the interviewer that you are interested in the position as well as the company. It is a good idea to prepare a few questions before the interview – this can be done while you are doing research on the company.

- current issues that will face the successful candidate;
- inter-personal challenges in the department;
- any process, technology or people challenges that needs to be attended to urgently;
- key result areas that need urgent attention in the first few months;
